Gibsams will be holding its annual Suicide Prevention five-mile walk, “Sunrise of Hope,” this year on Saturday the 13th of September. Sunrise of Hope is a unique event, beginning at 6am, as thousands of people gather in the darkness in Gibraltar and around the world to walk into the dawn.
The symbolism of commencing in darkness and walking into the light gives the occasion its impact, bringing the community together to support those who have been bereaved by suicide, who have self-harmed or who have experienced suicidal ideation. This event enables us to deliver a potent message of hope to all.

• If you would like to collect sponsorships for the event you can join the Sunrise of Hope Team through this link.
We are especially grateful to the children of Gibraltar who each year have painted posters and pebbles with messages of hope for the event. The pebbles are distributed around Gibraltar during the walk, to sprinkle a little joy all over our community and brighten someone’s day. A reminder that a little bit of love can go a very long way. Their inspiring creations will be showcased at the GEMA gallery from the 8th of September, so if you have the time, please pop by to vote for your favourite and maybe leave a little message of hope of your own.
If you are unable to join us on the day, there are lots of ways that you can raise awareness, from creating a bunting, arranging a cake sale, or simply placing candles in your windows the night before the walk. If you would like to get involved, please contact scarlett@gibsams.gi tel: 00447912579050.
Follow our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/sunriseofhopegibraltar/ for all the latest updates as we count down to this year’s event.
Looking forward to sharing a sunrise together soon.
Big Excited Hugs
