We are grateful for those companies that support our work and wanted to find out more as to why this is important for them.
Why is wellbeing important in your organisation?
At Pretty Sailing, wellbeing isn’t a policy, it’s the whole point. We know firsthand that being out on the water is one of the best ways to hit the “reset” button. Sailing forces you to be present, work together, and reconnect with yourself. Whether someone is a seasoned skipper or a total novice, we see that shift in real-time: stress drops, confidence builds, and heads clear. We aren’t just teaching people how to handle a boat; we’re helping them find a bit of balance in a busy world.
Why have you chosen to support GibSams?
We’re backing GibSams because they provide a lifeline that every community needs. Mental health struggles often happen behind closed doors, and having someone to talk to can be life-changing. For us, this partnership was a no-brainer. It goes hand-in-hand with our belief in looking after people. Just as we look out for each other’s safety on the water, we want to make sure the community has that same support system on land. It’s about making sure nobody has to navigate the rough patches alone.
What is one action your organisation is taking to support employee wellbeing?
We keep things simple but meaningful by staying connected. We’ve ditched the formal “check-ins” for a culture where people actually feel comfortable saying when they’re struggling. Beyond just talking, we make sure our team gets “water time” that isn’t just about work. We actively encourage everyone to get out and sail purely for the joy of it. It’s our way of making sure the crew stays as recharged and resilient as the people we’re teaching, using the ocean to clear the cobwebs.
